The English Toy Terrier is a small, elegant, and lively breed, easily recognized by its glossy black-and-tan coat, slender body, and large upright ears.

It is highly intelligent, curious, and deeply attached to its family, while it may be cautious and reserved around strangers. Despite its small size, it is energetic and enjoys walks, playtime, and various activities.

It adapts well to apartment living, but still needs enough exercise, attention, and consistent training. Its short coat is also easy to maintain.
